Have Lambretta back on road, with some help from Stu thanks for your help Stu. Carb cleaned and tank cleaned oot. However, after riding for any length of time it wont start again until engine is cool. Any advise on hwo to rectify this problem would be appreciated. Was wanting to go to Berwick this weekend.

It could be a number of issues, rings, small air leak or timing or electrical (startor or cdi)

i had this on my lammy and ............ i ended up having to turn the pertol off before i switched the ignition off, then kick it with half throttle and it worked every time , check the plug is suitable also, once paul put the other carb and jetted mine i dont have that problem any more

I wid try Norrys advice first, Turn the petrol off before switching the engine off then try and start it wi the petrol still turned off.

dosnt everybody turn the petrol off when they stop?? or is it people just dont know what a petrol tap is??

okay cheers will try that the morn. would still like to get to the root of the problme tho. just bought new plug today so will change and try that also. Cheers for your help. will report back with result

do you turn the fuel off and what plug did you get??

yes turn fuel off as soon asI turn engine off, not before, should I be turning fuel off then engine in that order, new spark is a NGK B7ES

It wilnae make a blind bit o difference if you turn the petrol off before you switch the engine off, or efter, as long as you turn it off but try starting it wi the petrol turned off tae see if that helps

Hot starting problems can be a sign of the stator on its way out...

Okay update....noticed carb top was not sitting on carb properly, when I took it off it appears that the previous owner has threaded the carb and put a peice of plastic raw plug in it and then put bolts back in to try and give it something to grip oan. Anywaygot carb retapped and new bolts oan. Also added a 12v coil and new stator. Appears to have done the trick.
