The starting point on the East coast for this year's LCGB Coast to Coast will be Seahouses in Northumberland.Seahouses is around 50 miles north of Newcastle and 20 miles south of Berwick and is less than 10 miles from the A1.
A seperate post for Silloth, our destination on the West Coast will follow this one.Toot will deal with the Silloth side of things and I will look after the East.Details of the route and lunch stop location will follow soon.
Seahouses is a Fishing Village with a working harbour and is home to the boats which take tourists to the Farne Islands and its Fishing fleet. The Farne Islands are a mile off shore and Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island form part of the stunning coastal views.
The village has a handful of pubs and plenty of eating houses including Italian, fish restaurants and an Indian / Banks / shops and a petrol station.
We have secured 20 rooms at the Bamburgh Castle Inn which overlooks the harbour, serves food all day and beer for as long as we are thirsty.
Contact the hotel to book rooms on 01665720283. Bookings will only be taken from members-membership numbers will be requested by the hotel.
Rooms are also available at the Ship Inn next door 016655720200 and the Links Hotel which is around 300 metres away-01665 720062. The club have not made any arrangements with these hotels but they know their details are on our website and our members will be booking rooms.
In total over 40 rooms and 80 beds are available along with many other b&bs in the village.
Camping will be available at Springhill Farm which is a 20 minute walk from the village centre. Details of how to book camping will follow soon. Please do not contact the site directly as the club will sort this out for you.
Seahouses, the hotels above and Springhill Farm all have websites.
Details of start location / time and lunch stop venue will follow soon. Our route will follow the English / Scottish border across country before dropping into Cumbria to Silloth - details to follow and/or will be issued on the day.
If you require any further information about any of the above please contact me on 07758 195192 6-9pm weekdays and any reasonable time on a weekend.
For Silloth contact Toot-details on the Silloth thread.
