Over 70 motorbikes and scooters are stolen every day – which is more than were sold new last year. Marking the components is an essential deterrent to theft. Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) microchips are well established as an effective method of marking. But avoid putting yourself in the hands of a monopoly. Some companies protective their technology with patents which means the chips can only be read using scanners made by them. Weakness: The police, trading standards, insurance companies and the courts ALL must rely on equipment from that company as must garages and owners if they need to replace chips in components damaged in an accident– an effective monopoly. Solution: Buy ID marking from suppliers whose products meet the ‘Open Standard’ from the International Standards Organisation ISO 11784/5 FDXB. This standard was created as long ago as 1996 so this monopoly situation could not occur and ID marking could be used without fear of relying on a signal particular supplier. Check out our marking and self-monitoring tracking security systems based on ISO11784/5 FDXB. It will save you a lot of hassle.
