Hi
I'm trying to buy a Lambretta for my husbands birthday and can't believe how difficult it is. If any body could help me out I would be very greatfull. I would like to get a one for a bit of a project so as long as it runs it doesn't matter what it looks like. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Why the project I.e is your fella handy with them ? If no it'll be cheaper to buy something restored. Wot model is it your looking for? Have you looked on EBay? There's a company near London (Lambretta raver) <eBay handle pick up original scooters who are a good sort whilst I haven't ever bought anything through them one of the members here has. Wots the budget?

I`ll give you some help to start off with
BE VERY CAREFUL about what you buy. Ask as many questions on here as you can.
Lambrettas are not cheap, and it is very easy to get stung by unscrupulous types.
Lets start at the obvious place, budget.
Whats yours and how flexible is it ? That will tell folk a lot about what you should be looking at.
Moving on, can hubby wield a spanner, and would he prefer to have a hand in a build or would he rather just jump on and ride ?.

Hi ER.... Be aware, as soon as you mention the word lambretta, costs rise steeply. And you may well have to travel a distance to pick up the right bike What would your husband do with it ...potter about with it and ride locally short distance, or would he want to do some proper mile munching ? has he passed his bike test , as not doing so limits what he can ride straightaway As well as Ebay, there’s a few sites on facebook where you can pick up private sales from customs, to total restorations down to “barn finds” needing total rebuilds Gumtree shows a couple currently for sale in central scotland also, although they’re both in pretty sharp nick with prices that reflect that. Keep us updated with your progress and you or he are welcome on here to ask questions any time ... if we can’t help, someone will know someone that can Good luck
