Hey I'm new on here as I just bought my 1st Vespa, needs some work but nothing major (I hope). Generally on here to get some advise now and again, I messed around with Motocross bikes etc and my uncles Vespa in Italy, but dont really know my way around this, and the info online is limited for bikes of this age. I have ordered the Big Frame owners manual and some parts, but I need an old style air filter with the choke integrated, its not part of the carb on my one. Its not running at the moment as the Float Needle is missing, but it should be here tomorrow, so fingers crossed, might get to hear it run :-). Also need to sit my test as this is a 150cc, so any recommendations (in or near Edinburgh) are welcome. Any hints and tips are most welcome. Attachments:

Oh and one other thing which you might be able to help me with.
I can't fish through the front brake cable, there doesn't seem to be a hole for it to pass through? Spent a few hours on this one now, used torches etc trying to see inside the brake lever area and have removed the lever also. Is this normal? or has the throttle casing turned on the headset (is this even possible?).
Thanks in advance ;-)

Put the inner cable up from the bottom so you can see it in the headset, feed the outer cable gently down over it watching at the fork to help it through, pull the outer then out , iplace the top hat over the outer cable , if it's a fixed nipple on the cable feed this through from where the brake lever sits then guide the outer into the recess,, been a few years working on the old styles but if u need a hand maybe I can help out

Hello and Thanks for the comments etc, much appreciated ;-)
I found the issue, the throttle stem had been installed incorrectly. It contains two cut out sections, on opposite side and diagonally for the wire to pass through at an angle.
So removed the accelerator cable and mech inside the headset, then slide the throttle out and rotated it 180 degrees, simple inserted it again etc, and now I can feed the brake cable through as there is a clear passage.
Thanks again NorryC & Chrisb
P.S., Got it running and starting and sounds sweet!
Need to start thinking about my CBT etc at some stage.
